Deinonychus

It was morning, Deinonychus awoke in a clump of ferns. “H-r-r-r-R-a-a-a,” the pack leader had smelled something. It was prey.

Deinonychus and the rest of the pack followed the leader to the river.  There was a herd of forty-six Edmontosaurs.  Deinonychus searched for a weak Cinosaur.  After a few minutes of watchful observation he spotted a scarred Edmontosaurus.  It was weak and slow from old wounds.  Easy prey for Deinonychus.

He ran at it with two more members of the pack, the Edmontosaurus screamed “Ch-ch-o-o-o-n-n-n,”  then it started to run; away from the group.  It ran into the path of three more members of the pack, they attacked.  The Edmontosaur screamed in pain, as the pack tore into her tender flesh.

The other Edmontosaurus’ upon seeing her demise, tore off in a mad gallop across the river.  The Pack feasted on the kill.

All of a sudden Deinonychus heard something, he wasn’t sure what it was.  The pack heard it too!  It sounded like heavy footsteps, they were getting louder and louder.  Then CRASH!!  “R-R-H-a-a-a-a.”

A Tyrannosaurus broke through the tree line!  He was charging for the pack’s kill!!

The pack’s leader ran at the intruder, Deinonychus and the rest of the pack charged right along with him.

“R-a-a-a-a,” the Tyrannosaur bellowed in pain!  The pack was all over him, they were ripping the Tyrannosaur apart!

Tyrannosaur swung his head violently, the pack flew off in every direction.

The injured Tyrannosaur staggered away into the trees.  He would find a place to rest, before seeking another meal.

Deinonychus was as badly bruised and bloody as the rest of the pack.  He was still able to hobble over to the Edmontosaur carcass.  They were panting heavily, but started eating anyway, knowing other predators would soon be arriving.

Having gorged themselves on the carcass, the pack now headed back into the ferns to sleep off their meal.

As the pack bedded down for the night, the scavengers were taking over the carcass.

By morning there was nothing left of the carcass but memories.
